Gestation … of a poem

Carrying words like a child,

unformed and unknown,

mind seeks mind

as soul searches soul.

Phrases flutter with life

impressions and passion

giving birth to a thought

rough-hewn, unpolished,

a poem …

in my fashion … .

On writing …

A clear page,

unlined,

pristine.

A page like a day unlived.

A blank page

inviting interaction.

Taking a pen

in my hand like a talisman;

distilling a thought

to its essence ..

the attraction.

Words sieved through the mesh

of experience and reaction;

making a mark

like a footprint on snow ..

I was here for a moment

that melted away

but if I should meet you

in these lines

scribbled in ink,

I’d hear a faint echo of your mind

I’d like to think…
