In the formal garden …

Holywell

In the formal garden
a curvilinear fountain
controls the water flow;
confined by the sharp geometry of a pool
rippling liquid stills.
Languid fish glow golden beneath
their unruffled sky
swimming in silence among reflected clouds ..
Beyond the grey stone walls
ewes lie resting in the sun, ruminative;
their lambs nibbling the novelty of grass
where the land dips down to the unconfined sea
and rough waves invade the sea-caves .

    Beautiful contrast.
    I know where I want to be, “where the land dips down to the unconfined sea”.
    I hope you are well, Marya. We miss you. xxx

      Hello, Bilby !

      Lovely to see you,thank you for your kind appreciation.I’m delighted you liked the thought.That ‘unconfined sea’ is literally two fields away from the formal garden. 🙂

      Yes, I am well, thank you for thinking of me .. I do hope you well, too. (and Ara) I’ve been otherwise engaged … had a poetic sabbatical:-)

        I’m so relieved to see your reply, Marya, and happy that you have been following matters poetical. I hope you are wonderfully inspired. 🙂

        We are fine thank you. Ara’s elder daughter recently gave birth to her first child, a beautiful baby boy. Exciting times!

    Hello again, Bilby .. Glad you liked it .. Actually, I couldn’t access the photo that I was hoping to show you .. it was a much better shot of the entire pool and the fountain was reflected in the water with goldfish gliding (as they do !) xx

    Apologies, Bilby …. I meant to congratulate you on your becoming an Auntie and Ara on being Grandma .. How lovely:-) I hope the new family is thriving and the baby is being thoroughly spoilt. xxx

  6. Bilby says:

    No worries, it was a great contrast, although the goldfish gliding would have been the gilding on the carp. 🙂

    Thank you, Marya. The new family is relaxed and happy and baby is very beautiful. xxx
