In the high places …

Dolmen

In the high places
where blizzards bury sheep,
great stones of granite
mark an ancient site ..
a burial chamber
undisturbed ..
left to rest in prehistoric silence,
it sleeps ..

Wheresoe’er I turn my head
the high places speak to me
of grandeur and of awe,
of horizons limitless to view:
the wide-wheeling sky;
wheresoe’er I turn my head
I feel an affinity with
the architects of this tranquil tomb
and their unrecorded dead… .

Marya, I know places in Sutherland,on the North West Coast, where these lines of yours would nobly describe. A guant and foreboding landscape in winter, but having a majesty of Kings. I will keep this one for the winter months! I think it is one of your very best.

    Hello PapaG …

How lovely to see you this evening!

Thank you very much for your kind opinion about these lines .. I’m really delighted that they have such a resonance for you and you will find enjoyment re-reading them in the winter time.

Has Kojo received his violin yet? Love to you all.

The violin arrived Friday but I slid the violin and case into his bed on the Saturday morning so he found it when he woke up. He was immediately taken with it and wanted to try it out with the bow. He is very proud of it and wanted to take it to both church and school. But that will be for a bit later! Each day he takes it out, sometimes when friends are round and he plays a few open strings and allows his friends to do the same, showing them how to hold the bow and to how to apply the resin to the bow. I may post a picture of him on MyT at the weekend. Will let you know! (Mummy arrived back from the States on Wed having had a two week vacation in Miami and New York!) Oh PS – the sound Kojo made was pretty good!

    Hello, PapaG …

What a lovely surprise for him! Hi, Kojo.x
I expect he is now practising very assiduously and teaching his friends all he has learnt so far.
A very happy week for you both with the return of Mummy to celebrate as well. I’ll look out for the photo … have a very happy Sunday.
    Marya
