Almost Autumn …

HONEYSUCKLE AND ROSE_HIPS IN SEA_MIST

Almost Autumn;

rainbow rings around the moon,

ephemeral moments lost so soon.

Mists on rivers, lake and sea

diffused by time like a memory ..

butterfly wings in rich brocade;

the touch of petals long decayed ..

russet, amber, golden sun;

shadows lingering on the horizon ..

almost Autumn;

honeysuckle and wild arum glow

bejewelled in berries poppy-red,

in the silence of the hedgerow ..

Songless birds see that chill Winter lies ahead

aware that like the swallows of the Spring

the fugitive Summer now has fled … .

    Yes, very beautiful, Marya. Another summer gone; lots of wetness here.

    I’m glad to see that your poetry is still speaking for you. So many lovely poems and photos.

      Thank you very much, Brendano … Autumn ; such an elegiac time ..

      I’m always happy to know that you find pleasure in reading these attempts of mine and that you enjoy the photos that accompany them too.

    Hello, Marya,

    Autumn has been rehearsing her lines all Summer here in the drab flatlands. But the roses and nasturtiums loved it. And your lines bring us to a whole new perspective, so full of colour and feeling. I think I’m going to enjoy the run-up to Advent, after all ! 🙂

    Hello again, Jamie ….

    Thank you 🙂 Roses and nasturtiums … what a vibrant combination! I love the citrus-like colours of nasturtium trumpets .. so cheerfully vivid, and those beautiful leaves which can hold one raindrop in balance at the centre .. gorgeous plants, I think ( but then so do blackfly 😦 )

    Hope the Flatlands are not drab today and defy the Autumnal spirit …

    Breathtaking. I love your poetry. It’s as pure as nature.

    “Rainbow rings around the moon” – too beautiful.
