The West wind …

Oh! The West wind is wayward

and wild in its course today;

it bowls me along like a hoop with a child.

Trees bow down before its force; supplely prostrated.

Tumbling twigs enmeshed with leaves

tangle in my hair;

I don’t care …

my breath is taken away –

Oh! The West wind is wayward and wild today

and I am exhilarated ..

an elemental power has me in its thrall:

I am at one with the uprooted trees;

my strength is no strength at all … .

    The West Wind is so fickle, Marya, that I doubt she cares for us at all, or even notices! She’s the one who sweeps us off our feet and squashes the trees – and yet is also she who bears our sailors home from the wanton westering seas and keeps our evenings warm while the weary Sun sleeps. She’s both zest and Zephyr, as the mood takes her. But I’m sure she does care really …. when she thinks about it. 🙂

      Good morning, Jamie 🙂

      Yes, she is all that and more …. as the wondrous ‘Ode to the West Wind’ by Shelley definitively demonstrates. It’s literally breath-taking , isn’t it?
