On life and love … There is no doubt

There is no doubt my heart betrayed me.

It would not listen to cold reason’s plea.

I fought its wayward will

with common sense and practicality,

dismissing errant heartbeats and romantic sighs

as a certain vulnerability –

until I realised that my amnesiac heart

had betrayed me with such subtlety

I failed to recognise in that masked face

love’s last hiding place … .

    Good morning Marya,

A great series of poems. Although I don’t comment often (as you know, us Scots are stingy with our comments) I read your odes with much enjoyment. Your reflections are the perfect way to start a Sunday morning.

Hmmm…without a doubt crawling between the flowery things (sorry Marya, I don’t know one flower from the next) are deadly Star-fished lime-backed tarantulas.

      Why, thank you, JW !
It’s lovely to see you this evening. I’m delighted you’ve enjoyed these poems .. I used to live in Scotland .. I didn’t find any Scot ‘ stingy’ .. careful maybe, but not stingy. 🙂 I found them most kind, generous and hospitable.
Please don’t mention the T word .. Aaargh! I’m not going to look at that photo again …
Hope you had a happy Sunday with the family … sans poncho 🙂
