On love and loss …

I felt the world revolve when I was with you;

silver stars and silver moon hurtling by,

turning in the slipstream of a comet’s trail

streaming through a velvet sky;

until the dawning of a day-break pale

found me yearning as night took you

and left me mourning

and my world still …

    I have struggled to say something remotely meaningful here and failed. May peace be with you always, you dispense so much joy with your beautiful poetry.

    Good morning, Shermeen …

    You are always so kind and so sensitive … thank you very much. I am not recently bereaved; I wrote these two poems some years after I was widowed … like most of my poetry the lines just seem to arrive after emotions and impressions have filtered through my subconscious like coffee through a cafetiere …
    I’m placing all of my poems here on this website as a kind of archive .. they do not run in any sequence ( principally because I haven’t arranged them in any systematic order .. I don’t date any of them … I just write .. )

    I realise Marya that your loss is not new. I also know some memories do not ever fade and their poignancy is heightened every now and then. For me your gift to form poetic verses in such few words that convey profound emotions is unique. Your poetry is emotive, easy, complex and honest and I always find a spiritual element to it.
    Your subconscious does amazing filtration!

    Thank you very much Shermeen …
    I’m not at all eloquent in responding to such compliments but I appreciate your kind opinion and your unfailing encouragement and support very much.

    Glad you had a fine day, too.
