Stay, sun …

Stay, sun;

delay, sun,

the passing of this day.

Slip off your crimson robes of fire;

suspend the laws of time.

Return to the zenith of your power;

prolong this hour.

Burn away the stars …

postpone the night.

Shine brighter than the moon

with incandescent light.

Let this day live for ever

like the love within my heart;

leave tomorrow to tomorrow.

Stay, sun; banish sorrow … .

    I read the first 12 lines savouring the beauty depicted – upon reaching line 13, my heart filled with joy. Intelligent poem, beautiful poem.

    Thank you very much for such a compliment, too.
    I’m very fond of this photo .. it was such a wonderful sunset and the trees were so lovely in silhouette ..

    Good morning Marya. When a moment of joy is too good to let pass, it folds its way into a precious corner of memory – there to be enjoyed for ever. Perhaps the night-stars were given to cast light on our reflections. Your lines so often remind me of these priceless things.

    Good morning, Jamie …

    Thank you very much for your kind words and these lovely thoughts .. in fact they reminded me of the poem which I have now decided to post here .. ‘ Memo to Self’ .. I hope you like it 🙂

    Another lovely sunny morning here .. I hope the sun shines in the Flatlands ..

      Ah, the Flatlands, Marya. But I have deserted them for the rolling fields of Cheshire! Already I have been jumped upon and sang at by my lovely g’daughter and her Lil Bruv. And I have done The Tour of my other daughter’s huge garden, which is gorgeous with every kind of flower, shrub and tree ; all of which are awake now. Photos tomorrow.

      Thank you for your kind wishes – and enjoy an Easter renewal. 🙂
