Becalmed …

I took a walk

inside my mind

to the gallery

of the sea

and chose a print

that the waves bestowed

anonymously.

Seaweed,

sand

and one rock-pool;

a still-life between the tides.

Beauty becalmed

by nature’s laws,

rippled ribbons

floating free ..

Seagulls,

shore

and salt-tanged air;

simplicity … .

    Truly excellent. You write extremely well, but this is exceptional and for me pure inspiration.
    This, as they say is from above 🙂

    Good evening Marya,

    Through a link from a link I seem to have wandered into your world. It is great news to see you have a website up and running and all your works will be easily accessible. Your place is an oasis of calm in a fiery world.

    This poem is very evocative of days I spent on the seashore when my family was young. We would jump over the seaweed and look for sea life under the pebbles and in the pools. Now grown, my kids have other things on their mind. Thank you for this beautiful poem, as ever, your lines are a pleasure to read.

    Oh yeah, the photo. How on earth did you manage to copy my signature? 🙂

    Good morning, JW ..

    Lovely to see you 🙂 I hoped you would spot my comment on your ‘Garish’ post. I wanted to thank you for encouraging me to set up a blog of my own .. I found the whole idea daunting .. although it was a New Year’s resolution which has taken a bit of time to put into action.

    Thank you also for your kind appreciation of this work in progress .. I’m delighted you like it and this particular poem.

    Oh, yes .. days at the seaside. Such happy memories for children in discovering the new and fascinating world of the rock-pools and the mystery of the sea relentlessly encroaching the sturdy battlements of elaborately- conceived sandcastles. I always loved the way the moat filled up with water ..

    ps
    The signature? That’s just a psychic ability 🙂

    Hello Marya,

    The Royalist blog is on hold at the moment as “horror stories” don’t seem to be popular. To like your post I had to log-in using my word press name (The Royalist name change is a long story). I am more active on my “business” blog at Blogger http://jw10-jw10.blogspot.com/. Pop in if you want to read alternative business news. 🙂

    Far be it for me to hand out advice though I will echo what an earlier blogger said to you. I know you have a vast body of work and for newer readers of your stuff (I’m sure you will eventually build quite a following) a few poems at a time will whet their appetite and leave them begging for more. Of course, it’s your call and I wish you lots of fun and every success in your new venture. Well done for keeping a New Year’s resolution.

    Always great to speak to you and I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine.

    Hello again, JW … Thank you for the new link .. I wasn’t sure when I read your closed until further notice message on your royalist blog whether it was some part of an in-joke 🙂

    Thank you very much for your advice … I will heed it. Now that I’ve managed to get the site up and running perhaps I should relax a little 🙂

    And thank you also for your good wishes .. always appreciated.

    Yes, it’s beautiful weather here .. a perfect April day .. I must do some weeding although I have a soft spot for daisies populating the grass. I think they’re an adornment … Enjoy your afternoon too.
