On writing a love letter …

With pen poised

above this white, inviting page

I wait for the hieroglyphs

of the heart,

love’s language,

to paint

with calligraphic art

in blue-black ink

the flowing, fluid,

passionate thoughts of you

I think.

I wonder if

these words of love

would, in another script,

seem less inadequate and trite.

Then would you find

my soul’s Rosetta stone;

and with that key

read these dancing loops and strokes

I so unoriginally write,

and understand my heart and mind

and so …. decipher me?

Reticent .. but I hope my poetry speaks for me .. Favourite quotation .. ' Uttering a word is like striking a note on the keyboard of the imagination.' Ludwig Wittgenstein
