A skylark sings …

Low tide,

the sea sighs

leaving the land.

No swell

surges to the shore ..

one wave breaks

like a mirror

on the sand

scattering shards of shell

with silver light.

No seabird flies

but out of sight;

high in the ethereal blue,

a skylark sings

his transcendent song.

His world is sky

and land and sea :

mine; hisย  pure,

heart-piercing notes

of rhapsody … .

  1. JM says:

You have a way of capturing the mood of the moment, Marya. I can almost believe that the sea, the sand, and the birds share your mood. Agh! I’m becoming a pagan! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. atomsofstars says:

Good morning, Jamie … thank you but I think the mood of the moment captures me !

Becoming a pagan? Now that, Jamie, is a slippery slope for which I do not want to be responsible … hang on ๐Ÿ™‚
